As a pet owner, I know it’s a hobby for us to take pictures of our pets although it gives us a great challenge especially when our pets are not so fond of the camera.
Today, I will share tips on how to take photos of your pet, good enough to be printed out into stickers!
1. CAMERA
Of course, you have to have a camera. The built-in camera of your smart phone is usually already enough to capture good photos. For IOS users, you can consider both the photo mode or the portrait mode depending on your preference.
2. LOCATION
Consider a location that would give a clean background for your photo. Declutter first and make sure your pet is also comfortable with your chosen location.
3. LIGHTING
In order to produce good quality photos, lighting is the true secret! Natural lighting is always the best option so I suggest taking your pet photos outside either early in the morning between 7-8 AM (take a walk outside with your pet, it would be good to get some exercise too) or between 4-5 PM in the afternoon when the sun is just about to set!
4. BE FLEXIBLE
You have to be literally flexible when taking photos of your pet! Doing awkward positions to get a good shot is completely normal! Try tip-toeing, bending, or even lying on the ground, depending on the angle you want. You should be able to adjust to you pet’s position, not the other way around.
5. PATIENCE
Keep your calm. Don’t yell at your pet when you can’t get the shot you wanted. It is important to relax and be patient because your pet might not be in the greatest mood all the time. If you think the photoshoot is taking too long, you can try again another day~
6. TALENT FEE
After a photoshoot, every model needs to be paid! No worries, your pet doesn’t need money. I bet some treats and a rub in the belly will do + don’t forget to say thank you and I love you! 😉
